IF YOU
WANT TO USE THE SSNB ON YOUR SITE:
WebRing has a SSNB (server side navigation bar) that they encourage you to use.
Certainly you can use this if you already belong to other rings and have
the bar on your site now, or if you desire the simplicity of adding the
code to your page. If you want to use the SSNB on your site, simply
copy and paste the code that you will find at WebRing. You will find this
link to pick up your code in the email that you received from WebRing with
the SUBJECT LINE: "WebRing: New submission to
the Phenomenal Diva® Webring"
The letter
reads:
Congratulations,
You have submitted your site to the Ring titled the "PhenomenalDiva.com® Webring." The information you submitted is:
Site Title: YOUR SITE TITLE HERE
Site URL: http://WWW.YOUR-DOMAIN-HERE.COM
WebRing ID: phenomenaldiva
Site ID: XX (((((<---YOUR
SITE ID NUMBER WILL BE HERE.))))
-----
The RingMaster has been notified of your request to join the Ring and will notify you of their decision and what actions, if any, to take next.
Meanwhile, you may want to manage your site information and the RingMaster may have special requests, like placing navigation code on your site before being approved.
To get the navigation code and to view/edit your site information go
to:
http://t.webring.com/hub?ring=phenomenaldiva&id=XX&edit
(((((WHERE THE XX
IN THE ABOVE LINK, .... IS YOUR ACTUAL SITE ID NUMBER WILL BE
THERE.))))
Go to the SECOND link and pick up
your navigation code. You will find a link to it on the left menu near the
top of the page. Copy and paste the code on your site. That's
it.
NOTE: PhenomenalDiva.com
does not offer a custom SSNB. The reason why is because every time the SSNB is shown,
PhenomenalDiva.com would have to serve the image in the code, and the bandwidth consumption would be enormous. To that end, there is the custom HTML fragment to
use where the images are served from your site.
If you
would like to use the CUSTOM fragments instead of the SSNB
click
here.
If you are using
AOL... and are having trouble with the code going nuts on your pages or
having trouble with downloading graphics, please CONSULT AOL'S HELP PAGES -
or write to AOL directly. PhenomenalDiva.com cannot possibly address all of
the work-arounds that AOL users must endure to place codes on their sites -
nor can PhenomenalDiva.com explain why AOL's "html editor" blows
apart and all but destroys codes for webrings. Please contact AOL
directly about this. This much is certain - if you use a quality
html editor like Microsoft FrontPage2000 as one example to author your web
pages ---- you will NEVER have to endure the endless problems
with your codes blowing apart on your pages.
CODE
PLACEMENT:
When you entered yourself into
the webring, you specified the URL that the webring will send visitors to
your site. Whatever that URL is - THAT IS THE URL WHERE THE CODE FRAGMENT
MUST BE PLACED. You can not have the code fragment or SSNB on any other page
but the one you specified when you entered yourself into the ring.
